Could one be picky and not be shallow?
I think I'm starting to get picky with things, such as with girls I would find interest in. Can you be picky and not be shallow at the same? Can they coexist? I'll pretty much talk and get to know anyone, but I think if it goes further than that I'll become picky now. I've never been picky, I'm not sure if I am or not, but I think I might be...

Being picky isn't necessarily for a bad intent. I see the two concepts as two different things. Being shallow means you're close-minded and you're..well, YOU'RE SHALLOW. Being 'shallow' is a more definite term people use to characterize others who, for example, only speak to good looking people or somewhere along those lines. Being shallow is basically being ignorant. However, being picky doesn't necessarily mean you're ignorant because being picky can sometimes just be you using that character of yourself as a mechanism. Being picky can apply to more than just an attitude you have towards people. It can be applied to people, places, things, ideas, etc. Sometimes being picky is what allows you to make your best decisions, like not dating a criminal who rapes children. The two terms are similar to an extent, but they really are different in the contents they cover. EVERYONE IS PICKY WHETHER THEY'D LIKE TO ADMIT IT OR NOT. Again, it doesn't necessarily mean that's a horrible thing. I wouldn't say I'm too picky when it comes to picking a compatible guy for me. However, I'm picky to the extent that I KNOW IN MY HEART that I will NEVER date a smoker, a man who's old enough to be my grandpa, or a criminal of some sort. We choose certain clothes we wear because we're picky not because we're shallow. We choose to eat one thing over another not because we're shallow. You get the drift.
Just depends on your definition of picky. Me, I'll talk to just about anyone but there's gotta be more to the person for me to stay interested. Mostly the person just gotta have a good heart, be considerate, understanding, good looking,smart, and all the good traits you can possibly think of.
