I never understood why people can talk over the phone all night and not run out of things to say. Last night was the first for me and I fell asleep. Bree called me this morning while I was still asleep with my cell between my ear and the pillow.

Bree: Wake up sleepy head!
Me: Gosh what time is it. (Glanced at my night stand alarm: 5:32 am) Errr. I fell asleep. Sorry.
Bree: (laughs) It’s okay. Did you know you make these cute little whimpers when you’re asleep?
Me: I do.
Bree: (laughs) Yes, you do. It’s kind of cute.
Me: How long were you still up after I conked out?
Bree: About in hour. You’re a good listener.
Me: So what are you up to?
Bree: I’m gonna wash up first and start breakfast, then go in and start the dough. (She’s a caterer.)
Me: mmm hm. Bree?
Bree: Yea.
Me: Do me a favor?
Bree: Sure what is it.
Me: Call me in the mornings like this.
Bree: why?
Me: I like waking up to your voice. It’s making my day already.
Bree: I like hear your voice too. Guess what?
Me: what?
Bree: I’m wearing nothing, but an oversized t-shirt.
Me: (Fully awake down) God, you’re torturing me.
Bree: (laughs) You’re just easy to tease. Now, get up and get ready for school.
Me: That reminds me. I won’t be able to make it in this weekend. My mom has a doctor’s appointment and I really want to be there.
Bree: (pause) It’s okay. But you’re going to have to make it up to me next week.
Me: I promise I will. Are you mad at me?
Bree: Not mad, just disappointed.
Me: I’m sorry. Really I am.
Bree: I know. Now get to school.
Me: Bree, I still have a couple of hours. Want to talk?
Bree: No, I need to get in early. I have to go now, so go back to sleep.
Me: I can’t sleep now. I’ll make it up to you, I will.
Bree: I know.
Me: I miss you.
Bree: I miss you, too.
Me: Call you later?
Bree: You better.
Me: (half-laugh) I will.

That’s how my morning begun. I haven’t felt this good since, well, since Klaire. Waking up with her cuddled next to me with my arms around her and her legs tangled in mines. I’m don’t mean to compare, but my mind compares them anyway. It’s impossible not to compare them even if I don’t want to. I’m going to make this work I know I will.
