I look at her as she sits across from me. I watch her every movement and study them. She slowly looks up to me, makes a silly face, then she breaks into laughter. I smiled and laughed with her.

Her lips are plumped and pink. Her eyes are shaped like big diamonds with dark brown eyes that nearly shines. She has silky black hair that is in layers as they fall down to her shoulders. Her skin is a perfect golden brown.

She parts her lips to a smile as she speaks to me. I listen with open ears. Her voice is so calm and soft to the soul. She and I carry on with our conversation about our daily life. It’s so hard to pull my eyes away from her. I like to watch how gracefully her hands move with such care. A smile grows on my face as I catch her blushing and turning away to hide from me her red cheeks. I want to lean forward and kiss those red cheeks of hers, but I resisted.

I fall back into my study mode as I watch her. She and I have been friends since we were 10yrs old up until high school graduation, then she disappeared. Little did I know that she’ll look this great after so many years? My heart races as I reminisce about our younger years.

We talked for hours and lost track of time. She glances at her watch and made a face. I knew that look on her face as I recall back to the same face she made when we were ten. It was great to know that she hasn’t changed that look on her face since we were kids. Just seeing it makes me smile and I knew what she was going to say before she looks up to me. I smiled slightly as she lifts up her head. I nod my head as a gesture saying that I understand. She slowly gets up to gather her things and to say good bye.

I look at her once again and saw a frown on her face. I laughed and took my two index fingers to flip that frown into a smile. She burst into laughter like she always did back in the days when I turned that frown into a smile.

She leaned in to give me a tight hug before leaving. She grabbed her belongings and walked out of the coffee shop. I watched her as she slowly disappears out of my sight once again. I sat back down in my wooden chair and thought to myself that this is the end of me not telling her that I want to be with her. But another thought came to mind, “There’s no end to a beginning that never started”.
