Doubtful in love.

It’s okay if he isn’t handsome, after all a handsome man without a brain isn’t quite the appeal. Its okay if he isn’t a genius either, mediocre intellect will do. Its okay if he isn’t a millionaire, I don’t mind working the extra effort in order to get there. I repetitively tell myself this over and over again and yet I keep finding myself doubting my own standards.

My own direction.

It’s amazing how fast time is traveling. My first year as a graduate student is almost coming to an end. One more year and I should be done with my schoolings, one more year and then I should be ready to set forth and take on the world. Only problem is, as I am in the middle of my graduate problem I’m beginning to doubt my career path. I’m starting to doubt the decisions that I’ve made and lately have found myself hesitant and unconfident about where I want to go and what I want to do with my life.

Money vs. Passion

My sister is obsess with the ties that comes with money. To her money isn’t just about money but it defines who you are as a person and interestingly enough, she believes that it also determines your potential of capability.

To jump or not to jump.

So today I got into a fight with my sister. She proclaimed in anger that I was greedy and self center (and mind you, I’m neither). Being the rebel that I am, I shouted back and advised her that she was stupid and emotionally unstable. Me and my sister we fight pretty frequently, in most part because I’m always the one who initiate the arguments. Exchanging blows with one another has become normal for the two of us. Fortunately, we fight but we learn to love again. That’s what sisters do, they argue but only to reunite.

Hmong students: Defend and degrade.

Yesterday I attended a workshop on politics at a private college and met a bunch of very bratty Hmong college students. Obviously these students were raise up very “White” as they had no knowledge of their own culture. Funny thing is, these Hmong students were exceptionally intelligent. During discussion time, they all articulated their ideas and thoughts about the current trends of today’s politics to a great ordeal that even I was a little flabbergasted. It was pretty apparent that these students were highly educated and that they weren’t afraid to speak out.

Sexually inactive.

So I recently read a blog on here about…well basically about sex. I thought the blog was pretty interesting in many aspects as it also helped me questioned my own sexuality and what not. It’s funny how majority of the American people can so easily discuss about sex but within the Hmong community it’s an absolute hush-hush. We rarely talk about it. Not with our parents, siblings and sometimes not even with our best friends (then again I could be wrong, perhaps some people are quite open about this topic and I’m just not aware of it).
