i never noticed how, i could be sad with a smile on my face
how i can be down, when my spirit is up in outer space
like a clown with mascara and a red nose as the base
but underneath he has frown, when the make-up is all erased
......

Seems to me that depression does not quite fit the idea of your poem, however it works well in it's own way. This is a good poem, I am looking forward in reading the rest of it

So why do you have to frown?/
Are you feeling a bit down?/
