Hmong sprouting new last names? WhY?
So i hear of alot of people who has a entirely different last name. One that i never heard before like hmong Ken, Hmong pheng, Or something like that etc...I was told taht they were cursed so they had to changed their last name. I was just curious about the stories behind all this? and why the new last names?
*shrugs* =) Hahahaha. Remind me of HMB.
Vang + Vang = Fang =)
There's a bunch of those "new" last names. Originally there's only 18 Hmong last names. Those are just branch last names, that branch from the original last names.
They must of did something shameful to their last name, something so bad that cursed them sot hey had to change last names completely.
Hrmm, I've only heard of last names that have gotten extended, like Mouanoutoua, Lyfoung/Lyfong or Thaoxaochay. Maybe the various new last names are just a misspelling of common Hmong last names that just stuck over time?
Lol. Not just too long ago, I found out that there were last names such as Kong. o_O
My first reaction to their last names were, "You're not Hmong?" LOL!
There are 18 last names total in case you don't know.
let me list them:
-chang/tsab
-cheng/tsheej
-chue/tswb
-hang/ham
-her/hawj
-fang/faj
-khang/khab
-kong/koo
-kue/kwm
-lee/ly/lis
-lo/lor/lauj
-moua/muas

I ask because my cousin is married to a girl who was once divorced and her kids has a funny hmong last name. hmong ken?
I heard somewhere that some Hmongs changed their last name to Alexander or something. =] Idiots, they are.

now thats halirious!
Isn't it? I think my grandma told me when I went to Minnesota.
are you freaken kidding? I've heard it but i didnt know that it was meant for hmong's. lol
These 'new' Hmong last names could just be modified versions of last names we've already had. Last names can be written differently because of how the person/people chose to spell it like while coming over to the U.S.
IE: Song = Xiong, Lovang = Vang, etc.
Result of diaspora.
All the new last names, why, you asked? Simply because they finally realized that the Hmong race is a disgrace. The one way, and only closest way, to getting away from being Hmong is to change their last name to something that stray as far away from a Hmong last name as possible.
hot boy

Hrm.....I haven't heard of such thing but I shall ask around.
