I dont get it. How does the hp mail works? How do you know when you have a message?

Another way to find out is when you log in, a notice in red would pop up at the top, saying that you have an unread message or something.

There's nothing that notifies you. You just look at the side where it has you user panel. If someone writes you it will look like All messages(1). If nobody writes you, it won't have anything.
