I don't ever keep track of what's happening to him, but this morning my dad was having me explain this one article about Vang Pao to him so I thought why not share it here. =]
Feds drop charges against Hmong leader Vang Pao

So a quick summary of what the article is talking about:
It says that the charge against General Vang Pao (where he tried to overthrow the communist regime in Laos) was dropped.
However, there still remains the 10 other people that were charged with the same cause also, and another 2 defendants were added to the list of 10. "They all face a maximum life plus 18 years in prison if convicted on every counts."

Talk about a bold move by the prosecutor. This move can very well be the difference between this case being classified as a high profile case or not.

this is stupid.
i read the newspaper at work and it said, "charges were dropped because whatever GVP said was misunderstood??"
Ok? if that's the case, shouldn't the whole case be a misunderstanding?? HELLO!

the case was against ALL of them. but even though its dropped against him, the others still took the situation into their own hand. so in the end, it really becomes an individual case. again based upon each and everyone's own action, that will determine their fate. do i agree? no but what can i do. this is america, it can go either way at this point. hopefully it plays out good for everyone.

Only reason why the case they dropped the case against Vang Pao was because of the uproar that occurred after word of Vang Pao being arrested got out.
They're probably thinking, "Even though we lost the big fish, might as well get what we can get." So instead of trying to catch the big fish and risking everything else, they rather let Vang Pao go and go for the others.
Having only the others involved in the case, I'm assuming there will be less people going out there to rally and protest since their "leader" has already been released.

I know what you mean. Once GVP is out of the picture it will be easier for them to take down the followers. But I hope the protesters will not quiet down. =] liiFe
The two new defendants just happens to be my girlfriend's two closest friend's family. Jerry Yang, their uncle, and Thomas Yang, their father. -_-" So sad. General Vang Pao's charges are being dropped due to all the big commotion that's been going on. I still think that it is very unfair for the other 8 defendants who were arrested along with him. The two new defendants are one of my biggest concerns. Let's all hope and pray for their will being. Hmong Pride!
