dude I agree man that is sO freak'N true....I've done that so many times.....errr I always end up finishing last.....they always tell me I'm too nice.

deperation is a turn off. And when i feel smothered i freak out, and this in turns makes me lose interest. I think sometimes they try so hard to impress you that they arent themselves especially when the relationship is still very new or bearly beganing. I mean personally i dont want a guy that is going to follow me around and shower me with gifts and constantly kisses my ass to make me like him. i want a man who take charge etc...

I think this can go both ways, as in, it can be a reverse scenario. The real problem is the person who won't just tell the "nice" guy/girl to move on. Stringing someone along is wrong, and keeping the person around to play mind games with is just plain selfish. There's nothing wrong with being nice. It's just that the nice guys/girls always go after the not-so-nice people. Nice guys/girls don't have to finish last. If they put in a little more effort, they can catch up to the winners. =D

I agree with yummy. You are wrong on that. Some girl hates the fact that you are a needy desperate guy, but at the same time, they can find you really sweet and sincere for doing all the things you did. Some girls may not accept you at first, but if you keep trying, you can get them to change their minds.

I know a guy who chased after this girl for two years. She was never attracted to him. Now, he has her and she is crazy in love with him. He's having second thoughts after a year of dating. He wants to see other girls now. It all depends on how the girl is.

But yes, it is true that nice guys do get pushed around a bit. But you just have to know where to stand. Besides, even if the relationship doesn't last, they'll always remember what you did for them. All those nights when you stayed up with them, all the little gifts you got her, all the poems, the songs, all the candy you got her, and etc. Somethings might be physic and she'll be able to throw them away, but then some will be memories and memories can't be erased.

It's never a turn off. It's just.. when you'e being a nice guy, you tend to be nice to everyone around you, which is often misleading. Because the girl that you're trying to woo may think that she's just like any other girls to you, thus she'll not think too much about your kindness.
