Hey guys. Here i'll give you some tips for windows 7 on how to increase your speed and performance.

1. Before you get into your Windows desktop screen, you have to deal with your start-up time. Speeding up windows you generally want to get the start-up time and shut-down to cut down short. Disabled any start-up programs that you do not need. To speed up start-up time:

1. Click start
2. Click Run
3. Type "msconfig" without qoute.
4. Your "System Configuration" will show up. Click "Start-up" tab. Disabled any unwanted start-up programs by uncheck it.
5. Click apply and press Ok.
6. Click Restart

To speed up shut-down time:

1. Click start
2. Click Run
3. Type "msconfig" without qoute.
4. Your "System Configuration" will show up. Click on "Boot" tab. Make sure your mouse is highlight to the OS you want to change. In this case Windows 7. If you have Xp, it still works. Change the "Timeout" to 3 seconds. This determine how long it waits to shut down or restart your computer.

Note: The 3 seconds also apply to start-up time as well.

Another thing you could do is to kill your processes as soon as your computer shuts down or restart. This will increase your shut down time. To do this:

1. Click start
2. Click Run
3. Type "regedit" without qoute.
3. Click Hkey_Local_Machine
4. Click System
5. Click CurrentControlSet
6. Click Control (Do not expand list)
7. Look at the right and double click on the very last file "WaitToKillServiceTimeOut".
7. Change the value data to 3 sec.
8. Exit and Restart

So basically, the default is 1200 which is 12 sec in data value. This means that when you shut down or restart your computer, it waits 12 sec before it automatically kill all your processes. By changing to 3 sec as mention above will only take 3 sec which is much faster.

2. Tweaks and adjusting for best performance:

1. Click Start
2. Right click My Computer
3. Click properties
4. Click "Advanced System Settings" tab
5. Click "Advanced" tab
5. Under performance, click Settings
6. Click "Visual Effects" tab
7. Choose Custom
8. Unchecked unecessary visuals effects you dont need.
9. Click Ok

3. I recommend "FullSpeed v3.6". I use this everytime when im surfing the internet. It makes my browser search much faster and increase my overall performance for boradband and internet connection etc. You get a freedownload here:

http://www.getfullspeed.com/

4. Turn Windows features on and off.

1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Programs
4. Click " Turn Windows features on and off"
5. Uncheck features you do not need.
6. Click Ok

5. System Maintenance:

1. Do a disk clean up. This will delete your old files etc..

Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Clean up

2. Do a monthly Disk Defragment. This will read your data much faster as it compressed the gaps in between your data.

3. cClean. Somebody has posted the link on this thread somewhere. Check there.

4. Anti Virus. Do a scan for malwares, spywares, trojans etc.

Thats it guys. xD
